As we wrap up Women's History Month I've been thinking a lot about the contributions of women in my industry. While there are more of them than there used to be, this is still a heavily male dominated field. And while you might have heard about the names and accomplishments of Janet Yellen (Secretary of the Treasury) or Muriel Siebert (the first woman to have a seat on the New York Stock Exchange), I have been thinking about the accomplishments and history of the women of Purpose Planning.
Sadie has worked in customer support for nearly 30 years. She is the absolute backbone of our practice. She knows the ins and outs of every form, every vendor, every client, every Cetera and FINRA regulation. She knows EVERYTHING. If she doesn't know it or can't find it out, it doesn't need to be known. Miriam has played a similar role for Spencer Financial and spent her career building that practice with her husband Steve. She now provides that same support to her daughter and son-in-law so that the next generation can take what they created to the next level. Both Sadie and Miriam have watched this industry change countless times, learned new technologies and then figured out how to implement them and make them work for our practices and clients.
Bethany has 15 years industry experience, 10 of it working for me. She helps me stay sane by keeping our operations organized, looking for efficiencies and taking care of countless tasks that have to be done but simply should not be done by me. She also educates and informs all of you with emails, blogs and videos which has always been one of my top priorities. Stevie is newer to the industry itself but has adapted in an incredible way, already passing the CFP, being named a Forbes 2023 Top Women Wealth Advisor for the State of Missouri* and adding value to our practice as soon as we started partnering with Spencer Financial. She is an absolute firecracker and I can't wait to see what she does next. Jessica has worked for Spencer Financial since 2019 and has proven herself to be a real chameleon. It doesn't matter what we throw at her, she catches it and lobs it right back. I have yet to find something she can't do.
In addition, all of these women have children and aging parents and grandchildren and houses to manage. And while it isn't always easy or perfect, they find their own way to make it work. As I reflect on where we have all come from, I am actually more excited to see where we are all going. These women ARE Purpose Planning, and the future looks very bright indeed.

*The Forbes America’s Top Women Advisors ranking was developed by SHOOK Research and is based on in-person, virtual and telephone due diligence meetings to evaluate each advisor qualitatively, a major component of a ranking algorithm that includes: client impact, industry experience, review of best practices and compliance records, firm nominations; and quantitative criteria, including: assets under management and revenue generated for their firms. Investment performance is not a criterion because client objectives and risk tolerances vary, and advisors rarely have audited performance reports. Listing in this publication and/or award is not a guarantee of future investment success. This recognition should not be construed as an endorsement of the advisor by any client. No compensation was provided directly or indirectly by the recipient for participation or in connection with obtaining or using the third-party rating or award.
